This is about the Jim in ChopperJim.com.
Jim’s love for motorcycles came at an early age. When Jim was 7 years old, his Dad placed him on his older sister’s bike. With no training wheels and one big shove, Jim was off! Without falling, he rode down the street and back. Riding a bicycle came naturally to Jim; thus, his love for two wheels was born.
After a few weeks, Jim mastered all the bicycle maneuvers…popping and riding wheelies over homemade ramps. Then, one day, Jim’s dad comes home with the Minnie-bike. With a 5-horsepower motor and no brakes, the bike launched Jim into his first backyard supercross. Starting his engine and with no instruction and no helmet, Jim went…like a bat out of hell. Dodging trees, houses, and nearly riding over a fence, Jim had to be yanked off his Minnie by a neighbor. For most his childhood, Jim rode everything from dirt-bikes to three-wheelers until he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.
While serving in the military, he landed a part-time job as a crew chief for the Predator Racing Team, which raced mostly at Laguna Seca near Monterey, California. After dealing with too many crash-happy riders, Jim quickly grew bored with racing, got his marching papers, and eventually left the world of motorcycles alone for a time.
In early 2008, Jim got back into the saddle with his purchase of a Big Dog Motorcycles “Pitbull” pro-street chopper. He purchased the bike from a Lutheran priest near Houston, and it rekindled his love for motorcycles.
These days, Jim finds himself attending all the local runs which inspired him to create this site. He intends for ChopperJim.com to be the ultimate “free” biker resource on the web with links and event listings. So have fun and look around!
